Chongqing Baxian Middle School, founded in 1907, is in Yudong Town, Banan
District in which the local government is situated. It covers an area of
130000 square metres. There are seventy-one classes and over 4000 students
in the school.
Located by the mountains and on the Changjiang River, Baxian Middle School
benefits from a beautiful and quiet environment.
Baxian Middle School is blessed with modern facilities. The
equipment in physics, chemistry and biology labs reach the national
double-first standard.
There are over 300 teachers and staff in the school, some of whom are
well-known and expert at teaching, including four Super-grade Teachers,
two Principal Research Fellows, 166 Senior Teachers and eight Subject
Leaders in the municipality and Banan District. About twenty-two teachers
and staff have won honorary titles in the country and the municipality.
Eight national and municipal projects in the school were recognized. About
eighty teachers have taken the post-graduate courses.
Great emphasis is paid on training students¡¯ creative and practical
abilities. The quality of administrating the school has been improved year
by year.
Baxian Middle School fully implements the Party¡¯s educational
guidelines and carries out quality-oriented education. Such activities as
Sports Meet, Art Festival, English Week, Literature House, Summer Camp are
some of the extra-curricular activities feature in the school. The school
is an experimental unit for training latent talents in sports, e.g. girls¡¯
basketball, and traditional school sports, e.g. track and field events. In
October, 2000, the first sports meeting for key high schools in Chongqing
was sponsored in Baxian Middle School.
The school attaches great importance to international exchanges. It
has a wide-ranged co-operation with the scholars from Britain, America,
Canada and Finland. A sister school relationship with Dixie Grammar School
in Britain has been established and mutual visits between the staff and
students have been accomplished, which further promotes friendship among
the teachers and students of the two schools.
Baxian Middle School has won the titles of Unit of
Civilization Advanced Unit in Moral Education, Model School in Democratic
Management, Advanced Unit in Hygiene Work since Chongqing became the
fourth municipality under the central government.
Today, Baxian Middle
School¡¯s main objective is to join the ranks of the best Chinese schools
and to pave its way to maintaining high-qualified staff, high level
management, first class facilities and high quality education. Baxian
